The Shizuoka Festival is a popular festival when cherry blossoms are in bloom.

The Shizuoka Festival was started following the legend that "Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu took his retainers to Sunpu here to view the cherry blossoms.
The first Saturday and Sunday of April, when the festival is held, coincides with the cherry blossoms being in full bloom every year.
Sunpu Castle Park, one of the festival sites, and the surrounding area are famous for its cherry blossoms.
